FINISHING THE WORK

I re-dedicated the little church in Puente Bolivar. The construction of the new church has almost been completed. About 20% of the roof has to be completed.

They had their first church service in the new building last night. I preached from I Kings 8 where it is described how Solomon dedicated the temple and prayed to God. The whole village came out, including the non-Christians. We had several salvations. The little church was literally packed.

Thanks to all who donated to this important project. You made a dream come through!!!! This little building will be a focal point in the community. It will change people and fulfill needs. The congregation, extremely poor, has made a commitment to finish the inside to the best of their abilities.

Our team prayed for many children until late in the evening. It was an unforgettable evening.

Tomorrow, we will return to put the final planning touches on building the new houses for two single parent families.

Saturday, we will be leaving back for Lima to start ministering in San Martin de Porres for about one week - another very poor neighbourhood. One of our members of our International Advisory Board, Pastor Pedro Sanchez, is pastoring the church in that area. We are also planning to visit IBE San Isidro, a church of about 5000, on Sunday morning. We have been invited to bring our course "Walking with God" in one of their church plants in Northern Lima. We are now changing our agendas to accommodate this request on May 16-18, 2008.

Please pray for us as some of our team members are ill and as we have been having some problems with interpreting services. In fact, we are without an interpreter for the next two days. Well, back to speaking from the heart in broken Spanish and with hand signs. God will help us.

John and Hannelore
