OUR NEXT TRIP TO LIMA AND BARRANCA, PERU

Currently, we have a small team on the ground in Puente Bolivar - renovating/replacing about 20 unsuitable housing units in that small squatter community. On March 25th, 2009, Dwayne and Darla left with Scott and Tracy Unger and their little daughter Casandra. Please pray for them while they are involved in this difficult task.

On April 13th, 2009, a smaller team will be leaving (including the undersigned) to prepare for more intensive projects throughout the year in Tablada de Lurin, Barranca and Tres Unidos de Matereni (Junin).

Continue to follow our travels on this blog.

SAFELY RETURNED

This trip was short but we were extremely busy. We safely returned on February 10th, 2009. These were our activities while in Lima and Barranca :
* we preached the Word 6 times in 5 churches in Surco-Lima, Tablada de Lurin-Lima, Barranca
and Puente Bolivar
* we assessed housing needs of single moms in both Puente Bolivar and Tablada de Lurin. We
selected 15 housing units to be either replaced or renovated during our next visit in April.
* we taught a new 10 hour seminar "Pastoral Counselling - Level One" in CHAKAM's campus in
Surco-Lima (see www.worldoutreach.ca)
* we had a number of intensive planning meeting regarding potential international development
projects in Tablada de Lurin.
* we made arrangements to have anti-parasitic medication distributed in a community in the
Peruvian jungle.

We praise the Lord for allowing us to be involved in the missions field.

We are returning to Peru on April 13th, 2009. Anyone wanting to join us is welcome to call us at 306-922-0100 or e-mail us at campus@inet2000.com.

ARRIVED

We arrived late Friday. On Saturday morning we left for Barranca. Yesterday and today, we have been assessing the social housing needs in the community of Las Palmeras-Puente Bolivar. We are experiencing some different emotions visiting these precious people in their homes. We don´t realize in Canada ¨how good we have it¨.

We were able to identify about 15 homes to renovate or replace. We will have a final meeting tomorrow to decide how many we are able to help. Many are single moms with 2, 3, 4, 5, etc... kids.

Hannelore bought 50 chairs for the church in Puente Bolivar. We also bought some chairs for the single moms whose houses we replaced last time we were here.

All of us are doing fine. We forget our e'mail addresses...so we are relying on this blogspot to inform all of our friends and family. So, if you visit, please leave your e'mail address or e'mail us.

I preached last night in the church in Barranca. The response at the altar was enormous. Pastor Pedro has been with us for two full days.

Talk to you later.

WE'RE OFF AGAIN

On January 29th, 2009, we are leaving, once again, for Peru. We can't wait to see our friends (spiritual family) again while in Lima and Barranca.

This time, I will be preaching in various churches along the Pacific coastline. Also, I will be teaching a course at our campus in Surco-Lima called "Pastoral Counselling - Level One".

While in Peru (until February 9th, 2009), we will be visiting Las Palmeras (Puente Bolivar) and select a number of houses for renovations or replacement which will actually happen during our next trip out in April.

Please pray for us as we, once again, are off to the people we love so much.

ARRIVED BACK HOME

After six days of hard work and a 5 hour delayed flight by Air Canada, we have arrived home safely.

Though we worked extremely hard while in Peru, we are feeling refreshed and wished we could have stayed longer.

We are now planning our next outreach for sometime in the late Spring of 2009. Anyone of you who are reading this and want to go with us, please let us know. You would need to raise your own support, but it is good to start early.

Please pray for me as I will have some serious medical tests next Tuesday. Pray that the Lord will heal me before I receive the tests.

Thanks to all of you for praying while Hannelore and I were ministering in Peru.

TABLADA DE LURIN

We had a nice dinner with Udo, Barbara and the kids, who will be leaving for Germany (to live there) in January 2009. We hope and pray to visit them in the early part of 2009.

Went to Tablada de Lurin and preached in this exciting church. Pastor Arturo and his wife Isobel are doing a fantastic job. The church is really growing - there must have been 120 adults and children there.

As this is a really poor church, we blessed the poorest with money which our Skills Unlimited IV students collected before we went. We gave out all the money and Hannelore bought about 65 packages of cookes-crackers for the children.

I preached about The Joy of the Lord and it was fun! There were eight salvations. PTL!!!!

Hannelore made a lot of pictures.

Our new church in Prince Albert will (has selected) select Tablada as a mission and sister church. Real connections were made this evening.

It is now about 12:30 am and within 24 hours we will be sitting on the airplane to come back home. Although we wanted to stay here for ever, we have some obligations at home and after all we have to use the return ticket and bring the presents home for our students. See you in a couple of days. Do not know if we can put another blog up before we leave Lima.

Love you.

BEAUTIFUL BARRANCA - PUENTE BOLIVAR (LAS PALMERAS)

We hired a private van to go to Barranca and Puente Bolivar - a quick way in and out in one day.

We picked up Pastor Pedro Sanchez and his wife Eve in San Martin de Porres.

It was a really good trip both up and down. Police stopped us twice - once our driver got a ticket (we do not know for what - and we believe that even the police did not know why), and the second time we received a stern warning that we had to wear our seatbelts which we had on anyway.

Hannelore did a little shopping in Barranca for about fifteen minutes. We also had a wonderful meal at a fish restaurant.

Then we went to Puente Bolivar (Las Palmeras) to scan the community for our upcoming housing project. Hannelore took a lot of pictures. By the way, Dwayne and Darla, when you read this, we met the Canada twins. Darla and Anika are now walking and have four teeth each in their mouth. We blessed their mom with the money you gave us and some extras.

We also visited the moms at the houses we replaced last time. They are really happy with the houses they received. Hannelore went on the inside and they keep it really clean, but they have absolutely no furniture. Maybe something we can do something about the next time.

Hannelore bought crackers for all the kids in the village. They all came out like little bees.

We are really surprised about the work the church has done on the inside. They are working really hard and raising monies to fix the church on the inside. We spoke to Pastor Fernando and he told us that they now have 22 regular adult attenders and 11 children and teenagers. They also have a teenage church on Saturday evenings and it is attended extremely well. It is so good to see what can happen when you help someone. God is so good!!!

Talk to you later.
