FIRST UPDATE

We had an uneventful flight from Saskatoon/Toronto to Lima. While flying north to south does not give you jetlag, we took the first three days to rest and to do some sightseeing. When you go down with a team, particularly when there are first-timers such as Margaret, you have to do some sightseeing. We went to see the changing of the guards at the Presidential Palace. We did some shopping at various INCA markets and we saw the architectural building in Central Lima.

Hannelore and I have seen these things so many times - so we become tour guides. That saves us on interpreters-translators.

I preached three times at the Iglesia Biblica Emmanuel in Surco-Lima on Sunday. This is the church where CHAKAM´s Lima campus is located. It is so good to see that this campus is taking the materials we have taught them in the past and now are offering a number of courses throughout the Fall season (Lima Fall).

On Monday we started with our first course at the Lima campus. We are teaching a course called ¨Walking with God¨, and we have 39 students in the first classes. Last night (Wednesday evening), we were joined by a number of others because it was there regular service night. We had about 80 students and preached on ¨The Fire of God¨.

In a few hours, we are leaving for Tablada de Lurin and have our first planning meeting with officials in that squatter community. We are planning to demolish and rebuild two houses for single moms in Tablada. The moms do not know about this as of yet - so it is going to be quite something to see their faces when we tell them what we have in mind. Their current houses are a collection of carton boxes, some wooden plates and some scrap metal. We hope to replace them with wooden pre-fab units placed on a cement foundation.

This weekend we are leaving for Barranca, 300 km north of Lima to start the same course (see above) in our campus there. We will catch up with you when we are there.

Please continue to pray for us. Things are going well, but prayer will give us more strength, more anointing and more wisdom to accomplish everything He wants us to accomplish when we are here. We are looking forward to the arrival of Christopher Pompu from Prince Albert, who will join us next Thursday. We can´t wait to see you, Christopher....

Always in His Service,

John and Hannelore Fryters
Jess Meredith & Margaret Reynaud
